The wraps are finally taken off, dear readers! Kia has officially unveiled its latest SUV, the Syros, marking its global debut. Positioned between the Sonet and Seltos, this new SUV comes packed with modern features and is the most premium sub-4 metre SUV one can buy in the market today. It is offered in a total of six different variants: HTK, HTK (O), HTK+, HTX, HTX+, and HTX+ (O). Along with all the features and tech, the Syros also comes with both turbo-petrol and diesel engine options.
What makes the Syros truly stand out is its fresh design, inspired by Kia's latest design philosophy, which we first saw a glimpse of in the recently launched EV9. If this exciting new addition to Kia's lineup has piqued your interest, here’s everything you need to know about the Syros at a glance:

The Syros gets a dominant fascia with the brand’s logo placed on the bonnet nose just as other Kia SUVs. A blanked out tiger nose grille follows like the EV 9. Beside that, it has vertically stacked LED headlights which are complemented by vertical LED DRLs.
The silhouette looks boxy and rugged with bulged out fenders. It gets flush-type door handles, body-coloured B-pillars’ roof rails, and chunky silver body cladding. It also features 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, with a design similar to those on the EV9.
At the rear, the Syros gets L-shaped LED taillights near the rear window, along with a rear wiper and a shark-fin antenna positioned atop.
Stepping inside, the cabin of the Kia Syros features three dual-tone interior themes, much like other Kia models, with accents of ambient lighting. The layout is newly designed, distinct from the Sonet and Seltos, albeit drawing a little inspiration from the Carnival and EV9.
A highlight of the Syros’ cabin are its rear seats, which not only feature leatherette upholstery and ventilation, but also come with a recline and slide function for additional comfort.
The Kia Syros is equipped with many modern amenities like a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto and AppleCarplay, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 5-inch touchscreen for climate control, a four-way power adjustable driver’s seat, and 64-colour ambient lighting.
Other key features include ventilated front and rear seats, an 8 speaker Harman/Kardon sound system, a wireless phone charger and auto up/down for all windows. It also offers drive modes and traction modes, making it adaptable to different terrains and driving styles.
Safety is ensured by 6 standard airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ISOFIX child seat mounts, a 360-degree camera, a dual dashcam setup, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
It also comes with Level-2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) features such as lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, high beam assist, autonomous emergency braking, and driver attention warning.
Prices for the Kia Syros is expected to be put out on January 2025. While it won’t have any direct competitors, its pricing positions it against a range of sub-4 metre and compact SUVs, including the Tata Nexon and Curvv, Hyundai Venue and Creta, Maruti Brezza and Grand Vitara, as well as the Mahindra XUV 3XO.
