There are loads of small details that you might not know about the upcoming 390 Adventure

[UPDATEKTM Has Launched The 390 Adventure In India!]

KTM’s 390 Adventure is the small-yet-capable off-roader that enthusiasts were waiting for since a long time. Keyboard warriors have been crying foul given the non-availability of spoke rims. Look closely and you will notice there are loads of tiny bits you might have missed that make this one of the hottest small-capacity adventure tourers you could buy in India in 2020.

One of the lightest bikes in its class
With all fluids on board, the 390 Adventure tips the scales at 172kg. It is only 2kg heavier than the lightest bike in its class -- the BMW G 310 GS. This is extremely commendable as the 390 Adventure is capable of storing 3.5-litres of fuel more on board than the 310 GS, which has a larger motor and gets loads of top-shelf components. You can check out how the 390 Adventure stacks up against its competition here.

Lean-sensing traction control and cornering ABS
Forget finding such technology in the sub-400cc class, you will not find both of these aids in the sub-litre class adventure tourer segment as well. The closest you can get to IMU-based rider aids in India currently is the 790 Duke. And we reckon the 390 Adventure will cost roughly one-third of the larger-capacity Duke. So more safety for the masses.

Foldable gear shift lever and adjustable brake pedal
Serrated footpegs were obvious but the key bits are the pedals at either ends. The shifter pedal’s end is foldable. In case of a spill over, the end of the peg will not snap off, ensuring you can continue riding the bike without any hassles. On the right side, you can adjust the length between the serrated brake pedal and the pegs. This is another handy feature developed from KTM’s rallying exploits.

A standard 12V charging socket
For the tourers, KTM is providing a 12V charging socket as standard. It is positioned right below the 5-inch colour TFT dash, which gets Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and telephonic controls. The only other motorcycle in the segment to get a similar charging socket is the Kawasaki Versys-X 300.

Loads of KTM Powerparts
KTM’s Powerparts section offers a whole host of mobile mounts for the 390 Adventure. These are designed by Touratech for popular mobile phones such as Apple iPhones and Samsung Galaxy series. Or you could get an adaptor for your phone. Plus, there are several luggage options (soft panniers, tail bag, small rear seat bag, etc), petal discs, a full metal bash-plate and a bi-directional quickshifter. Yes, a bi-directional quickshifter is an optional accessory for the 390 Adventure. We hope KTM offers the same Powerparts in India as well. We will know more about the 390 Adventure later this year as it makes its India debut at the India Bike Week 2019.
