When KTM unveiled the 390 Adventure at EICMA 2019, the Austrian brand also revealed numerous accessories for the adventure motorcycle. Now that the bike has launched in India, you would be seriously considering purchasing a few of these PowerParts. Sadly, KTM India will not be bringing the luggage systems for the ADV from the Austrian catalogue. Instead, the company is working on local solutions to provide a cost effective alternative for your luggage mounting needs while touring.
The PowerParts catalogue of Mattighofen includes panniers, tail bag, tank bag and saddle bags for the 390 Adventure. These items are compatible with KTM's larger adventure bikes (like the upcoming 790 Adventure) as well. For India, offering hard plastic panniers might not be the right way forward as they might be priced on the higher side. Soft panniers would be the right choice. Not only would they be more affordable, the mounting systems would be less complex and would also weigh less than their plastic counterparts.
When the 390 Adventure was testing on our streets prior to the launch, we had spotted it running with a few luggage accessories. The panniers do look similar to the ones listed on the KTM International website, suggesting that those will not be the final product. It was also spotted running a top box. While it is unlikely that KTM India will be developing a top box for the bike, a tail rack would be in the works.
KTM India could be looking at local gear manufacturers like ViaTerra, Rynox or DirtSack to tie up and produce bespoke motorcycle luggage gear for the 390 Adventure. Stay tuned for more updates.
