Jaguar Land Rover has joined hands with ‘Rapid Response’ NGO to provide timely relief in times of natural calamities with the help of a modified Discovery Sport. On the 10th anniversary of Jaguar Land Rover’s operations in India, this move aims to give back to a society which has helped the company grow into one of the most popular luxury car manufacturers.
Rapid Response is an NGO which specialises in disaster rescue and relief. It will utilise the Discovery Sport to improve its operations this monsoon season. The modified SUV will be used for rescue and medical assistance, food and relief kits in case of an emergency. The modifications are limited to off-the-shelf accessories including a luggage carrier, luggage partition, tow rope among others - considering the SUV is capable enough to tackle different terrains on its own along with 600mm of water wading ability.
The standard Land Rover Discovery Sport is powered by either a 2.0-litre petrol or a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 240PS of power and 320Nm of torque while the diesel is available in two states of tune -- 149PS and 382Nm or a more powerful 180PS and 430Nm.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport is currently priced from Rs 44.68 lakh to Rs 61.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
Here’s what Jaguar Land Rover and Rapid Response had to say about the collaboration:
