Going by the image, it seems that rumours of a more affordable Ninja 300 have become a reality. This is not only good news for enthusiasts but Kawasaki India too, because the motorcycle that began the 300cc motorcycling cult in India itself hasn’t been able to garner much success since then. This was mainly due to the hefty price tag of Rs 3.6 lakh it carried, that too in an era when the market was still growing and was extremely price-conscious. The arena became even more challenging for the Ninja 300 when the KTM RC 390 entered the market at Rs 2.37 lakh (ex-showroom), bringing more power and affordability in the picture.
Currently, the Kawasaki Ninja 300 comes to India via the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route from Thailand. This results in the current pricing that the Ninja 300 gets. However, with heavy localisation, the Ninja 300 has the ability to become the most affordable twin-cylinder bike in the country.
So expect the Kawasaki Ninja 300 to be priced around Rs 2.3 lakh to 2.6 lakh (ex-showroom), which should give the KTM RC 390 a tough fight, at least on the pricing front. Another motorcycle facing tough competition will be the TVS Apache RR 310, priced at Rs 2.23 lakh.
The Kawasaki Ninja 300 is powered by a 296cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin engine that produces 39PS of power at 11,000rpm and 27Nm of torque at 10,000rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Apart from the above mentioned, the Kawasaki Ninja 300 will also compete against the Benelli 302R (Rs 3.62 lakh) and the Yamaha YZF-R3 (Rs 3.48 lakh, all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
Kawasaki India deleted the 'Launching On Friday' image that popped up on their social media page accidentally. However, sources have confirmed that the launch of the Ninja 300 for tomorrow. This does point to a brighter future for the Ninja 300, So stay tuned for more updates.
