The Italian word ‘nerissimo’ translates to 'very black' and the newest Maserati Ghibli showcased at the New York Auto Show is exactly that. All the chrome and silver bits in the Nerissimo have made way for black. The door handles, grille, window trim, 20-inch alloy wheels, mirrors and, of course, the body are painted in black. The only bits that remain untouched are the exhaust tips, brake callipers, the trident logo and badging. The interiors too are nerissimo save for a few pieces such as the contrasting bright red stitching on the upholstery and red paddle shifters.
Production of the Ghibli Nerissimo edition will be limited to 450 units with each one flaunting its unique build number on the centre console. It's also limited to petrol Ghibli, Ghibli S and Ghibli SQ4.
The sporty 4-door sedan is also available in India at a price of Rs 1.14 crore (ex-showroom Delhi) with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel powertrain that makes 275PS of power and 600Nm of torque. Internationally, the same engine is also available in a 250PS state-of-tune along with a 3.0-litre V6 petrol powertrain, which makes either 350PS or 410PS of power. While all of these options send power to the rear axle, the 410PS-spec engine is also available with an all-wheel drive setup for maximum traction.
We already know that Master Wayne drives a 'very black' Jeep Renegade. So the Maserati Ghibli Nerissimo should be a no brainer for the Batman as it won't look out of place next to his Batmobile and the Renegade. Its growling exhaust note is perfect for showing off opulence while the stealthy car could also be used for some late night ‘bat jobs’. His lawyers won't mind either as Jeep and Maserati both fall under the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles umbrella.
Lately, FCA has stolen the limelight with world's most powerful SUV and the world's quickest quarter-mile drag monster and the made-in-India Jeep Compass. Read more about these cars at:
