Looking to relax after a long day of dealing with investors, bankers and dictators? Wanna pop off those diamond shoes and relax as your chauffeur gets you back to one of your homes? Well, Mercedes-Benz India has just the thing, or two, for you. Meet the Mercedes-Maybach S 650 and the S 560 which have just been launched at a trouser troubling Rs 2.73 crore and Rs 1.94 crore, ex-showroom India.
At nearly 5.5 metres in length, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is over 200mm longer than the standard S-Class to give it not just more stretch room, but a more imposing presence as well. It’s unlikely that you will spot one in India without a bodyguard-filled SUV ahead of the full LED headlights and one behind the “Stardust” effect full LED tail lights. To the side, the football field-sized profile is garnished with classy 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels (the optional Maybach exclusive forged wheels look pretty sweet too) and a small ‘V8’ or 'V12' badge on the fender tells you why even being the chauffeur is a pretty rewarding experience (more on that later).
Inside, the layout is similar to that of the recently updated S-Class with the highlight being the human element in a sea of space-age technology. The choice of hand-tailored Nappa leather, hand-carved wooden inlays and slender aluminium accents make each car individualistic. Even the steering wheel is a blend of wood and leather!
Of course, the seats are heated, cooled and come with hot stone massage function, and everything from the 4-zone climate control and the 26-speaker Burmester sound system to the 64-colour, 3-zone LED ambient lighting system can be tweaked to match your mood.
The S-Class is one of the safest cars in the world and the Maybach takes it to the next level with features like active distance control, active steering assist, active brake assist and active blind spot monitoring.
And, yet, even with all this tech and 2.4+ tonnes of luxury, it sprints from 0-100kmph in under 5 seconds! In the S 650, the credit for this pace goes to a monstrous 6.0-litre AMG petrol V12 powerhouse that generates 630PS of power and.... wait for it...1,000Nm of torque, delivered through a 7-speed automatic gearbox to the rear wheels. The S 560 is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 developing 469PS of maximum power and 700Nm of torque.
It is, of course, now available for bookings but we believe interested customers have had their orders placed already.
