Range Rover Sport RS teased

We are all familiar with Jaguar’s RS spec models. Now though, Land Rover too will use the RS nomenclature in what will be the most powerful Land Rover model ever. The 2014 Range Rover Sport RS will make its awaited debut at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed and will feature the same 5.0-litre, Supercharged V8 engine that does duty in the likes of the Jaguar XKR-S, XFR-S and F-Type R.

The brute of an engine will make over 550PS of peak power and 680Nm of peak torque and is said to propel the Range Rover Sport RS from 0-100kmph in under 5 seconds. The top speed of the Range Rover Sport RS too is higher and is expected to be about 265kmph which is remarkable since the car weighs over 2300kg. The Range Rover Sport RS will also feature a sports exhaust with the traditional RS-spec quad pipe setup which promises to make the large SUV sound as good as the F-Type. Other mechanical upgrades will include a sportier suspension setup, bigger wheels and tyres and bigger brakes to keep the power and weight under control.

The Range Rover Sport RS is expected to go up against the likes of the BMW X5M and X6M, the Mercedes-Benz ML63, G63 and GL63 AMG, the Audi Q7 V12 and the Porsche Cayman Turbo in a bid to become the best performance oriented SUV in the market. The Range Rover Sport RS is expected to be launched in India either later this year or early in 2015 and is expected to be priced at about Rs 2 Crore (ex-showroom)
