The Yamaha Ray ZR 125 FI and Ray ZR Street Rally 125 FI has been launched. Both scooters were unveiled last December along with the MT 15 BS6 and Fascino 125 FI. The Ray ZR 125 FI will be available with a front drum brake (Rs 66,730) and front disc brake (Rs 69,730). Its sportier sibling, the Ray ZR Street Rally 125 FI, is available only in a front disc brake variant (Rs 70,730, all prices ex-showroom Delhi). Interestingly the price difference between the base variants of the Ray ZR 125 FI and Fascino 125 FI is just Rs 300.
The Ray ZR 125 FI BS6 has been cosmetically overhauled. It gets a new front apron, new colours and livery. The Ray ZR Street Rally 125 FI meanwhile gets knuckle guards and new paint schemes. Both scooters get new features like a digital instrument console, LED DRL, side stand engine cutoff and a silent starter motor similar to the one seen on the Honda Activa 6G. Surprisingly, Yamaha has managed to shed 4kg of weight off both scooters. They now weigh 99kg, making these the lightest 125cc scooters available in India.
Know more about these two scooters here.
Powering both scooters are a new 125cc motor that delivers 8.2PS and 9.7Nm of torque. That’s 1PS and 1.6Nm more than the previous BS4 113cc motor’s power outputs. Also, Yamaha claims the new scooters deliver 58kmpl, which is 16 percent better fuel efficiency than before.
The Yamaha Ray ZR 125 FI and Ray ZR Street Rally 125 FI compete with other sporty 125cc scooters like the Hero Maestro Edge 125 and TVS NTorq 125.
