Real-world efficiency, acceleration, roll-ons, braking and more

The Yezdi Adventure and Royal Enfield Himalayan are arch-rivals, both fighting for the top spot in the affordable ADV segment. And while the spec comparo tells a part of the story, it’s the real-world comparo that tells us the whole story. So we’ve tested both bikes and stacked their performance numbers in one place to help you make up your mind. Check out their real-world performance comparison below:

Acceleration

Speed

Yezdi Adventure

Royal Enfield Himalayan

0-40kmph

3.86s

3.87s

0-60kmph

6.41s

6.45s

0-100kmph

10.49s

30-70kmph

4.85s

5.15s

40-80kmph

6.17s

6.87s

Now, when you look at the spec sheets of both bikes, the Yezdi Adventure has a clear advantage in terms of numbers, as it makes 6.9PS more than the Himalayan. But in the real-world, it’s much closer.

In all acceleration runs, the Adventure is just marginally faster than the Himalayan. The latter’s strong torque curve is at play here.

The Yezdi does, however, have a clear advantage in terms of in-gear acceleration, being 0.3s and 0.7s faster than the Himalayan in 30-70kmph and 40-80kmph times. This makes the Yezdi ADV quite suitable for quick overtakes.

Braking

Yezdi Adventure

100-0kmph

50.40m

31.95m

80-0kmph

67.24m

46.41m

The Yezdi wins this round; and by a huge margin. With a larger 240mm disc up front (compared to the 220mm disc of the Himalayan), the Yezdi has a much shorter stopping distance than the Himalayan. And the difference stretches up to almost 15m when braking from 80kmph.

We feel this is mainly because the Yezdi Adventure weighs 11kg less than the Himalayan, i.e. less inertia at the same speed.

Here, the Royal Enfield Himalayan prevails with its frugal nature. At 39.96kmpl (on the highway), it is much more frugal than the Yezdi Adventure at higher speeds, meaning fewer fuel stops on your road trips.

In the city, though, the Yezdi Adventure comes off as a slightly more efficient motorcycle. Considering they have the same fuel tank capacities, the overall range of both bikes would be similar in the city.
