Comparing these two Royal Enfield bikes is like comparing the Williams sisters. Both are essentially cut from the same fabric, but one of them brings a slightly different mindset to the game. And ever since its launch, the pressing question has been: Royal Enfield Himalayan or Scram 411, which one’s better? Let’s find out!
Acceleration:

RE Scram 411 |

6.85s |
11.41s |
When you’re playing with the same engine, and hence an identical power output, performance will be pretty neck-to-neck. That said, the Scram 411 comes with a few changes that reduce its weight by 5kg. This means the Scram pulls ahead of the Himalayan at lower speeds, and stays ahead till 80kmph. However, the ADV closes the gap when approaching the 100kmph mark.
Roll-on Acceleration |
30-70 kmph |
40-80 kmph |
RE Himalayan |
5.44s |
7.60s |
RE Scram 411 |
5.69s |
7.24s |
With the gear ratios on the Scram 411 unchanged, both motorcycles are within the same range of roll-on acceleration performance. The Scram will feel sprightlier given its smaller 19-inch front wheel that makes road riding more engaging, but in the real world, the difference is negligible.
Braking:

RE Scram 411 |
51.36m |
32.31m |
18.07m |
It is this department where the Scram 411 feels more confident on the road despite having the same braking hardware as the Himalayan. Why? Same reason, the smaller 19-inch front rim is simply more road friendly. It allows better control over the handlebar and helps load the front better under heavy braking.
Fuel Efficiency:

39.96kmpl |
RE Scram 411 |
38.23kmpl |
35.11kmpl |
The Scram 411 was conceived to serve the urban jungle better. Its lighter kerb weight, revised geometry come together to offer a better fuel efficiency in the city. But out on the highway, the Himalayan serves up a better fuel efficiency possibly thanks to its windscreen that reduces drag.
Verdict:
Again, it’s like asking which Williams sister was the best at tennis. Yes, stats and numbers will say one is an icon and the other is a G.O.A.T, but both gave the sport their own flavour. The same is with the Scram 411 and the OG Himalayan. Both are just as capable at handling the city life and the adventure life. But, while the Scram prowls the urban jungle better, the Himalayan commands the highways like a boss!
