It looks every bit a scaled-down version of its bigger siblings

The 2024 KTM 390 Adventure has been spied once again and this time in India! Ever since we experienced the new 399cc engine in the 2024 KTM 390 Duke, the hype for the new 390 Adventure is real and it’s really exciting to see it being spotted in India.

On the visual front, it looks tall, slim and very mean, like a downsized version of the 790, 890 and 1290 Adventures of the world and we love that.

This test bike seems to have 17-inch wheels at both ends, at least judging by the angle of the photo. That said, we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a larger wheel like the one spotted abroad earlier this year. So could KTM actually come up with a 390 Adventure SMT (Supermoto)? Given that they brought back the 890 SMT earlier this year, it’s likely that the brand would be looking to do the same on the new 390 Adventure’s platform too. So what KTM could do with this one is have various variants with different wheel sizes. There could be a standard 19-inch alloy front wheel for the road-biased tourers, a 17-inch spoke one for those who want supermoto madness but with ADV practicality and finally a 21-inch front wheel one for the true blue hardcore off-road enthusiasts.

The 2024 KTM 390 Adventure will be powered by the 390 Duke’s new 399cc engine making a solid 46PS and 39Nm. The updated engine is properly peppy and will feel lovely on the first two variants of the 390 Adventure. But we suspect KTM could bring around some changes to make it even better lower down the revs before plonking it into the off-road oriented 390 Adventure. As for the hardware, there’s an inverted fork, a monoshock and interestingly, the front brake caliper is axial instead of a radial one. KTM hence could just be testing out different equipment on its test mules. In terms of features too, the 390 Adventure will likely feature the 390 Duke’s updated TFT console possibly with the addition of turn-by-turn navigation and cruise control to make it an even better tourer. Along with this will be the updated, more premium switchgear.

All in all, the updated 390 Adventure could be globally unveiled later this year, maybe at EICMA 2024 and an India-launch could be on the cards for late 2024 or early 2025. The standard 390 Adventure costs Rs 3,38,746 (ex-showroom Delhi) as of now and we think the prices for the new one could begin from Rs 3.5 - 3.6 lakh (ex-showroom). KTM has been pricing their new bikes fantastically well so it wouldn’t be surprising if this one nails the value for money tag too. Once here, it’ll go up against bikes like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the upcoming Hero XPulse 400.
