We FINALLY have official details about the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. A teaser sent by Royal Enfield has revealed that 32.2432° N 77.1892° E is where we’ll be riding the motorcycle. Interestingly, the coordinates point to Manali, exactly where we rode the bike for the first time. The Himalayan was the most anticipated motorcycle from Royal Enfield back then, and the Himalayan 450 has come full circle, being the most anticipated Royal Enfield now.
The teaser also gives us an insight into what the bike sounds like (for the first time officially). That said, we already do have an idea about it because of a spy shot. It sounds throaty and gruff, something we usually associate with single-cylinder mills. That said, it’s not as laidback as the lazy thumping noise we’ve heard from the long-stroke Royal Enfield Himalayan.
The Himalayan 450 has been spotted endlessly, the most recent of which was earlier this month. The first official teaser of the same though was put up in June this year. Check that out here. The Himalayan 450 will be the first Royal Enfield bike to feature a liquid-cooled engine. Check out a close look at its engine here. It’ll even get a TFT console, another first for an RE.
All in all, the prospect of riding the Himalayan 450 is EXTREMELY exciting and we cannot wait to swing a leg over it. We’ll be riding it towards the end of October and we think Royal Enfield could plan to spice up this year’s Rider Mania (November 24 to 26) by launching it then. As for its price, Royal Enfield could peg it around the Rs 2.80 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. Its rivals, then, will include the spoke wheels variant of the KTM 390 Adventure and the upcoming Hero XPulse 400.
