The Ford Mustang has been a legend of the automotive world. That said, a generation update for the sixth-gen model is long overdue. Now, it seems we’re slowly yet steadily moving in the right direction, as the latest iteration of the iconic muscle car has been spotted for the first time.
So going by the spy shots, here are five things you can expect from the new-gen Mustang:
The Ever Familiar Two-Door Pony
While the model spotted was heavily camouflaged, the silhouette suggests this generation update will likely be evolutionary instead of revolutionary. The low-slung front end and the sloping rear are familiar design elements, and we take heart from these.
Angular And Sleeker Styling
Ford seems to have added more angles to the new Mustang, especially at the front. The nose appears narrower, slightly flatter and slung lower than before. The headlights seem sleeker, and the taillights look more contemporary than ever. All in all, ever the attention magnet, we tell you.
Electrified Heart
The most significant change in the seventh-gen Mustang will be under the hood. While it could retain the brutal 450PS Coyote 5-litre V8, we may see a hybrid powertrain option, a first for the muscle car. This also means the Mustang could feature AWD for the first time. This switch only makes sense in Ford’s larger scheme of things, considering the carmaker has already gone electric overseas with the Mustang Mach-E SUV.
Debut Date
Ford hasn’t specified a debut timeline, but we could have the new-gen Mustang breaking cover in 2023, with deliveries commencing later that year.
Heading To India?
While Ford has ceased the production of mass-market cars in India, the carmaker did confirm that the Mustang and Mach-E would be arriving in India. However, we may have to wait till 2024 (or the end of 2023 at best).
