In November, the Royal Enfield Scram was spied in an almost production-ready avatar. And now, it seems the company has put the pedal to the metal as the bike has been spotted production-ready in Goa supposedly for a TVC shoot, hinting at an imminent launch.
Compared to its last sighting, the Scram 411 has gained a few components. These comprise a headlight mask, handguards, and a metal oil-cooler shroud. The bike is wrapped in bright teal bodywork, quite different from the Himalayan’s existing colours.
Speaking of differences, the Scram 411 misses out on a windscreen, fuel tank braces, rear luggage mounts, and a tall front fender -- all of which are present on the bash-ready Himalayan. Additionally, since the Scram is road-biased, it will get a 19-inch front wheel (Himalayan has a 21-inch unit), which should make it quicker to steer and more planted in corners.
There’s plenty that’ll be retained too. The spoke wheels, instrument cluster, headlight and tail lamp, braking setup, and switchable ABS are all expected to be shared between the two bikes. Additionally, the Scram 411 will be powered by the same 411cc single-cylinder motor as the Himalayan. It produces 24.31PS and 32Nm, but the Scram should be peppier thanks to the expected weight reduction.
Lastly, given the drop in equipment, Royal Enfield could price the Scram at around Rs 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom), which is Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 lower than the Himalayan. It will rival the upcoming Yezdi Scrambler.
