TVS Apache RTR 180
Pros and Cons of Apache RTR 180
- It packs a peppy motor
- Braking performance is solid
- Good handler
- Looks dated
- Comes with single-channel ABS instead of the previous dual-channel setup
- Bit expensive for a 180cc bike
The TVS Apache RTR 180 BS6 gets a few but crucial updates to make it future-proof at least for the time being. With these, it has the potential to remain a fan favourite for a little longer, at least as long as the 180cc segment remains sparsely populated.

Apache RTR 180 Key Highlights
Price: The TVS Apache RTR 180 is available in a single variant called RM Disc BT and is priced at Rs 1,32,220.
Design: Over time, the RTR 180's design has largely remained unchanged. However, in its most recent version, notable changes have been introduced. These include revamped LED headlights and tail lamps, along with updated graphics and styling. Furthermore, TVS states that the motorcycle now features a more aerodynamic design with a flared tank and cowls, aimed at enhancing its performance.
Features: The Apache RTR 180 comes equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster that offers Bluetooth connectivity via the SmartXonnect app. This integration enables voice assistance, turn-by-turn navigation displayed on the console, and provides essential features such as a gear position indicator, shift assist, call and notification alerts, lap timer, and a top speed indicator. TVS has further equipped the bike with Glide-Through-Technology, allowing it to crawl slowly through traffic with just a little clutch modulation and no throttle input. Additionally, riders can choose from three distinct riding modes (Urban, Rain, and Sport), each of which changes the power delivery and ABS calibration to enhance the riding experience in different scenarios.
Engine: The Apache RTR 180 is powered by a single-cylinder, 177.4cc, air-and-oil-cooled, fuel-injected engine mated to a five-speed gearbox. In Sport mode, this engine generates 17.02PS of power and 15.5Nm of torque, while in Urban and Rain modes, it delivers slightly reduced figures of 14.54PS and 14.2Nm, respectively. The motorcycle features a 12-litre fuel tank, 180mm of ground clearance, and weighs 140kg (kerb weight). Its engine is mounted on a double-cradle frame, and the suspension system comprises a telescopic front fork and gas-charged twin shocks at the rear. Braking is handled by a 270mm petal disc at the front and a 200mm petal disc at the rear. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels fitted with 90-section (front) and 120-section (rear) tubeless tires. Additionally, it comes with a standard single-channel ABS system, and the seat height of 790mm is fairly accessible to riders of most heights.
Rivals: TVS Apache RTR 180’s rivals are the Honda Hornet 2.0, Xpulse 200T 4V and Hero Xtreme 200S.
Variants: The RTR 180 is offered in one variant but in two paint schemes: Pearl White and Gloss Black.

4.2City riding
Apache Rtr 180 is definitely a good commuter bike. It is basicaly designed for city riding. Its engine is torqy and power starts to build up right from 3000 rpm and goes upto 7000. Its top end has very poor pull as engine only generates noise. Vibrations are very much felt at every point on bike such as footpegs , side view mirrors and visor . Nothing can be done to avoid it.Seats are comfortable but start feeling itchy after 40 - 50 kms of ride.Mileage in cities is around 40 - 42 KMPl and on highways increases upto 45-48 KMPl.stock tyres are not that good , provide less grip on wet road. Its maintenance is cheap untill you have to replace any of mechanical parts. Normal service will cost around 575₹ under free service .1025 ₹ paid service.for 2018 model.
