Hero recently updated the XPulse 200 with some much-needed updates. The result is the 2021 XPulse 200 4V rally bike, which is a notch above the standard bike in almost every department. Take a closer look:
Since it’s a rally bike, there’s barely any bodywork on the XPulse 200 Rally. Yet, Hero has updated whatever is there with a new red/white livery.
Up front, you get a new headlight, which, unlike the road-going bike, has a round LED DRL and four projectors.
Hero has also worked on the seat, fuel tank, and body panels to make the ergonomics more suited for challenging terrains. All this works in conjunction with the new, repositioned footsteps and tapered handlebars for improved support.
Next up, suspension. Hero engineers claim that one of the most notable changes for 2021 comes to the suspension, which consists of a new fully adjustable USD fork and monoshock with improved travel to tackle any terrain.
The suspension is mated to aluminium spoke wheels wrapped with Maxxis block pattern tyres, further improving the bike’s capabilities.
Coming to the engine, the new XPulse 200 Rally uses the updated four-valve 199cc engine. Here, though, the engine comes mated to a full-system exhaust, meaning more power. While Hero hasn’t revealed any figures, for perspective, the stock bike makes 19.1PS.
Hero’s rally riders say that the new engine has made a big difference in performance, making the bike faster in almost all aspects. And this is also something we found when we rode the bike. For context, you can check out our road test review of the XPulse 200 4V.
Lastly, thanks to all the updates, the 2021 XPulse 200 Rally is 20 percent lighter than the 2020 bike -- a substantial difference, according to the riders.
The Hero XPulse 200 Rally isn’t available on sale for the common public. But if proper off-roading is on your to-do list, we suggest you opt for the XPulse 200 4V and throw in the Rally kit offered by Hero. The Rally kit includes adjustable, long-travel suspension at both ends, handlebar risers, a rally seat, and Maxxis block pattern tyres.
