BMW India has decided to enhance the 5 Series sedan in India by introducing a Carbon Edition trim at a price tag of Rs 66.30 Lakh. It is based on the 530i M Sport variant, and carries a premium of Rs 2.9 lakh over the variant it is based on.

As the name suggests, the Carbon Edition adds a splash of carbon black on the 5 Series’ kidney grille, rear spoiler, ORVMs, as well as the front splitter and inserts on the bumper. Even the 18-inch alloy wheels are finished in Jet Black, with the sedan limited to the Alpine White shade.
Changes to the cabin are limited to a Cognac Black upholstery with contrast stitching. It gets all the bells and whistles of the standard model which includes a 12.3-inch i-Drive infotainment system, with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 360-degree camera, reverse parking assistant, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
The 5 Series Carbon Edition is powered by the 530i’s 2-litre petrol engine that makes 252PS and 350Nm. Paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, it can do the 0-100kmph sprint in 6.1 seconds. Other performance trickery includes adaptive suspension with damping control and launch control. The 5 Series sedan is also offered in the 520d (190PS 4-cylinder) and 530d (265PS 6-cylinder) diesel engines.
Do keep in mind that the BMW 5 Series Carbon Edition is a limited-run trim, and is a locally assembled model. The 5 Series rivals the likes of the Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Jaguar XF, and Volvo S90.
