The production-ready version of the QJMotor SRT 500 has been leaked online. Since QJMotor is Benelli’s parent brand in China, expect the India-bound motorcycle to be renamed to the 2021 Benelli TRK 502X. The X variant is the off-road-friendly version rolling on spoke wheels with a larger unit up front and tubeless block-pattern tyres. Notably, the patent images of the motorcycle were leaked in June, so we can expect the bike’s international launch soon.
Going by the leaked image, the design of the 2021 Benelli TRK 502X looks a lot more cohesive than the current-gen version. The tank extensions look sleeker and the front beak is reminiscent of the BMW GS range. The motorcycle features an all-LED lighting system with a projector unit in the headlamp cluster. The bike also gets a pair of knuckle guards with aluminium bracing for added sturdiness. In order to ensure effortless touring, it features a tall windscreen, well-cushioned split-seat setup along with saddle stays at the rear. The spied motorcycle also comes with a proper centre stand for better practicality.
As far as the mechanicals are concerned, it is powered by the same 500cc parallel twin liquid-cooled engine. This is likely to be Euro 5/ BS6-compliant, and it produces 49PS compared to the 47.5PS output in the BS4-compliant version. At 225kg kerb, the new design has resulted in a 10kg weight reduction over the outgoing model. It continues to get the same inverted front fork and rear monoshock setup. But the biggest change comes in the form of spoke wheels with tubeless block-pattern tyres on both ends. It is reported that there will be two variants under the 502X. The higher-end version will get a pair of premium Brembo radial calipers whereas the entry-level variant is likely to come with J.Juan units.
Expect Benelli to launch the 2021 TRK 502 range next year. It is likely to command a price tag of around Rs 5.50 to Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). Its closest rival would be the Kawasaki Versys 650.
