Royal Enfield has taken the wraps off the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 with alloy wheels abroad. This much-needed update comes to finally satiate many owners who’ve been praying for it since these bikes were launched. Along with alloys, both these Royal Enfield bikes also get a few more upgrades that make them modern.
The 650 twins now get an LED headlight, which looks to be the same unit seen on the Super Meteor 650. Along with this, the bikes also get a USB charger on the left switchgear, along with rotary style switches, like the Meteor 350, Classic 350 and the Hunter 350, to bring a retro touch to an otherwise youthful update.
Along with all of the above, just as we had mentioned in our exclusive story, Royal Enfield has draped both the bikes in new colourways – Black Ray and Barcelona Blue on the Interceptor 650 and Slipstream Blue and Apex Grey on the Continental GT 650. Complementing these youthful shades are a blacked-out powertrain, underpinnings and exhausts, which give a stealthy touch.
The biggest update in all these changes is definitely the black tubeless alloy wheels, which should certainly help tweak the handling dynamics of both the bikes while also allowing way easier fixes for punctures.
The Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 are definitely important models for Royal Enfield in India, hence we expect these alloy-wheel variants to be launched sooner rather than later. The blacked-out variant of the Interceptor 650 is priced at GBP 6,599 (around Rs 6.56 lakh), while the Continental GT 650 costs GBP 6,799 (around Rs 6.76 lakh). That’s around Rs 56,000 more than the base colourway of each bike.
