The Royal Enfields That Are Coming In 2022

Till now, the Royal Enfield Continental GT-R 650, the race-only bike modified by the company itself, was the most track-friendly Continental GT 650 we had witnessed. But that ain’t the case no more.
Meet the STG Crow, a souped-up, carbon fibre-laden Continental GT 650 meant to take on the iconic Pikes Peak hill climb. Now, we know bikes aren’t permitted to race on the Pikes Peak anymore, but that didn’t really stop STG (an Argentinean custom bike shop) from going all in and creating this monster of a bike.
Starting from the design, the Crow looks nothing like the standard Continental GT 650. Heck, if it wasn’t for the lasered Royal Enfield graphics on the tank, even we would have a hard time figuring what this was.
Most of the bodywork like the mudguards, headlight nacelle, and seat section have been replaced by custom-built carbon fibre parts. Additionally, the radiator shrouds, exhaust heat shield, and fuel injector cover are all made of carbon fibre. How cool is that!
Then, you have the engine. While it may look ‘normal’ from the outside, STG has upped the bore size to 865cc, used a Rekluse clutch with a quickshifter, and employed K&N filters. The result? An impressive 75PS and 80Nm, which is 28PS and 28Nm (the same as the Classic 350) more than the stock bike. Also, the exhaust system uses custom headers and an S&S muffler designed for the Indian FTR 1200.
Impressed? Well, it gets better! You see, the underpinnings of the STG Crow are all borrowed from the Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R6. The USD fork, brakes, and front wheel are all from the R1, while the swingarm, rear wheel, and monoshock come from the R6.
The big bump in power, coupled with an equally impressive weight saving of 40kg, certainly makes the STG Crow extraordinary.
All this is topped off by a custom LCD instrument cluster, all-LED illumination, and a flat handlebar replacing the Continental GT 650’s clip-ons.
STG hasn’t put a price on the Crow or announced a custom package for existing Continental GT 650 owners. But the company does say this is entirely road-legal in Argentina, meaning there could be some update in the future. Till then, let’s just soak it all in.
