The new motorcycle could be the flagship RTR offering in its Apache range
  • Two new products in development - a second motorcycle with BMW and an electric two-wheeler.
  • The new motorcycle could be TVS’ take on the BMW G 310 R.
  • The electric two-wheeler could be the TVS Creon concept.
  • Some exciting news has come in from TVS’s camp! In a shareholder’s meeting held recently, the Hosur-based company hinted at two new products being lined up for launch. While one could be the second motorcycle to come out of the TVS-BMW alliance, the other could be an electric two-wheeler.

Starting with the motorcycle, our first guess would be a stripped-down version of the Apache RR 310. And since it could be a naked motorcycle, TVS might even ditch the ‘RR’ badge in favour of its ‘RTR’ moniker.

Needless to say, if it actually is the new TVS Apache RTR 310, it will also do away with the fairing. Bits like projector headlamps and the sporty design of the RR 310 might also be given a miss in favour of a more relaxed riding position and street-friendly looks. Expect a somewhat similar design as we’ve seen on the RTR 200 4V, but in a more muscular package.

The new bike is likely be powered by the same 312.2cc single-cylinder engine (34PS/27.3Nm) of the Apache RR 310 and the BMW G 310 twins. We also expect TVS to carry forward the underpinnings and features from the Apache RR 310. In terms of pricing, expect it to be around the Rs 2 lakh mark (ex-showroom), undercutting the RR310 by around Rs 25,000 and the G 310 twins too, by a bigger margin though.

Coming to the electric two-wheeler, TVS says that it will be launching one by the end of the financial year. Will it be the TVS Creon showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo? Or a completely different product? Well since our guess is as good as yours at the moment, we’ll have to wait till 2020 Auto Expo to find that out. Meanwhile, would you be interested in a more urban-friendly, naked Apache RR 310? Let us know in the comments below.
