The new spy shot reveals a major change to the marque’s two-cylinder engine

Now, it is no secret that a street-legal version of the Royal Enfield GT-R650 is in the works. However, this new spy shot reveals the bike in full for the first time and going by this image, the new cafe racer will be more than just the existing Continental GT 650 with a fairing slapped on.

The most obvious part about the new model is the Monza fairing, which, interestingly, is extended all the way to the crankcase. This extension also seems to be housing the front indicators. To accommodate the fairing, Royal Enfield may have had to reposition the clip-on handlebars and lower them, thereby necessitating a more committed riding posture.

Look closer and you’ll notice a new engine casing which appears to be a bit more compact than the one on the current model. Furthermore, the exhaust on the upcoming Royal Enfield bike has also been tweaked and now goes under the engine.

It is unlikely that Royal Enfield will change the engine tuning for this product. And though the brakes, wheels and the suspension setup appear to be the same, a previous spy shot had revealed that the bike could come with rebound-adjustable twin rear shocks.

The faired Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 is expected to debut later this year during the Continental GT Cup.
