The Apache RR 310’s naked sibling will take on the likes of the KTM 390 Duke and the Triumph Speed 400

Just days after the upcoming TVS Apache RTR 310 was spied for the first time, new pictures of the bike have surfaced online, giving a clearer idea of what to expect from the Apache RR 310’s naked sibling. The test mule appeared to be in production-ready guise, and could debut early next year.

The spy shot of the TVS Apache RTR 310 has given a closer look at the naked’s rear section for the first time. Interestingly, the Hosur-based company has not just removed the RR 310’s fairing for its upcoming bike, but has chosen to give it its own distinctive visual identity.

Unlike the Apache RR 310, the RTR 310 gets a floating licence plate holder and rear indicators. Even the taillight is completely different, with two vertical LED elements. The absence of a traditional licence plate gives the rear section a clean look. Though not clear in this picture, the tyres appear to be the same Michelin Road 5 units as on this bike’s faired sibling.

Another bit that could be common on these bikes is the exhaust. The test mule is heavily camouflaged but the chunky side-mounted unit looks similar to the one seen on the RR 310 as well as the BMW G 310 R and the BMW G 310 GS. We do not expect any changes to the 312.7cc reverse-inclined liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor, producing 34PS and 27Nm.

Lastly, let’s talk about the headlight. The spy pics show a twin LED unit, though it’s unclear whether it’s straight off the TVS Apache RR 310. We reckon the RTR could use more compact units, and could be closer to something we have seen on the Triumph Street Triple 765 family.

Overall, the upcoming TVS Apache RTR 310 looks very compact, and we expect it to pack more than just dual-channel ABS. As has been the norm with most TVS products, this bike too would get riding modes, and hopefully traction control. Interestingly, the Apache RTR 310 seems to sport a horizontally mounted digital console, and not the vertical unit from the Apache RR 310.

The TVS Apache RTR 310 could debut in the first half of 2024 with a price tag of Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), making it around Rs 22,000 cheaper than the Apache RR 310. However, with the Triumph Speed 400 coming in at Rs 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom), it would be interesting to see how the Apache positions itself. And yes, by then, the 2024 KTM 390 Duke may grace our shores as well.
